No one warned me!!

Jameson is teething.......need I say more? No one warned me that teething could be so hard, at least it is for us. I should have been ready for it because just about every stage that Jameson has gone through has been to the highest extreme possible. I have always joked that things are never easy for me.....well that is proving true with a baby too. For almost two months now Jameson has been chewing and drooling, but for about 1 week now he has really started teething. He bites down on everything to the point of almost shaking. He bites my face, fingers, hair, arm, shoulder, his toys, and I think he would chew on Lilly if she would be still enough for him. He has also been waking up about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours at night. I went up and down our stairs the other night so many times that the next day my legs were sore....just kidding. Anyway, my SIL, Dana, told me that she used to rub benedryl on Bella's gums and that would help her a lot. So I called the nurse and she advised me to do the same. I rubbed Jameson's gums with a heavy heart. I felt like such a bad mom for giving him medicine. I hate giving him medicine. Well, I was sure that it would do the trick and let him rest comfortably. I put him down at 9:30 and at 10:30 he started crying.....and at 12:30. So I gave him some tylenol and he slept until around 5:30. That was Sunday night. He slept a little better last night. I feel so sorry for him because I know he is in pain and I can't help him. So....any of you moms have any other advice for me. I know I am just going to have to wait it out and pray that some teeth come in soon. I have teethers, cold wash cloths...etc. All that good teething stuff they tell you to try. I need good advice. Let me know what you did with your little ones.

Other than a little sleep deprivation (which I have been in since day one) we are doing well. The house is great, Rusty is great, and Jameson is growing daily. He is still learning all kind of new things and I love to watch him. He loves to play "this little piggy" on his toes. I will start and he immediately starts smiling and laughing. He is so cute and I am thankful that I have the cutest baby alive! Ha.

Teething was terrible for us too. And I didn't realize that they continue to teethe even after they get their first teeth! Don't know why I didn't put that together. But I gave Maddie Tylenol when I would give her her night time bottle. It really helped her sleep and worked better/longer than oragel. I didn't feel bad about giving her the Tylenol because I knew it made her feel better and get some sleep. Your a fantastic mom!!

Teething can be rough. I don't have any magical solution for you. I've never heard of the Benedryl thing, but I might have to keep that in mind for baby #2. =)

I know it's heartbreaking to give them medicine, but the Tylenol (or Benedryl...or whatever you can use that works!) makes them feel better, so don't feel bad about using any of it. Before you know it, he'll be free and clear of all teething. And although it's hard to believe right now, the whole ordeal will be a distant memory. In the meantime, don't be hard on yourself...it's not easy to see them hurt and it's not easy dealing with the lack of sleep. Chin up, Mom...you're doing a great job!

I think Griffin is gearing up for his 1st teeth too. He drools so much that I had to go out and buy him some more bibs, because it was either do that, or do laundry every day! I have never heard of the Benedryl idea, so when Julia started teething we found that the Teething Tablets worked longer and better than oragel did...even the nighttime oragel. Julia has 15 teeth now and we survived, so you can too! My opinion is that Julia's first four teeth bothered her worse than all the other ones combined. Julia is cutting a molar now, and she's fine...she just chews on her toys more, but she doesn't complain.
